What are adaptogens? (And do they actually work?)

Adaptogens are plants, herbs and functional mushrooms which are known to assist the body’s natural performance against wear and tear, otherwise known as, daily stress and fatigue. Adaptogens are commonly bought in power form, liquid supplement and others in capsules.  While Adaptogens seem to be a new discovery, the use of these herbs, plants and functional mushrooms dates back to 3000 BC as part of ancient Chinese and Ayurvedic practices.

There are various herbs, plants and functional mushrooms that are considered adaptogens. Here are a few we have used in our 6 blends;

Aronia Berries

Ashwagandha

Astralagus root

Chaga Mushroom

Lion’s Mane Mushroom

Reishi Mushroom

Siberian Ginseng

Turkey Tail

Valerian Root

Disclaimer: Adaptogens are said to work best when taken over an extended period of time. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking medication or have a medical condition, consult your healthcare practitioner before use.

Our products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.

What is Tea?

All tea comes from the Camellia Sinensis plant. However, it’s all the different ways of harvesting and processing the plant that produces the different types of tea we get to enjoy today.

What is Black Tea?

After harvesting, Black Tea leaves go through a process of wilting, bruising, rolling, and oxidation. Black Tea is usually stronger than other teas, darker in colour and rich in caffeine content.

What is Green Tea?

Green Tea is made similar to Black Tea with one slight difference - the process of oxidation. Oxidation may give Black Tea nutritional benefits that are not present in Green Tea benefits. However, Green Tea may promote weight loss, improve brain function and lower your risk of heart disease.

What is Rooibos?

Rooibos is also known as Red Tea or Red Bush Tea, it is made using leaves from a plant called Aspalathus Linearis, indigenous to the western coast of South Africa. When harvested and dried this plant can be brewed into a reddish-brown herbal infusion.

What is Honeybush?

Honeybush is a South African Herbal Tea made from the leaves of the Cyclopia plant. Once these leaves are oxidized and processed, they look very similar to Rooibos Tea and carry a sweet honey, floral and woody aroma.

What is Herbal Tea?

Herbal Teas, sometimes called Tisanes, are a caffeine-free blend of herbs, spices, fruits, mushrooms or other plants, known for their rich vitality properties.

What is Fruit Tea?

Fruit Tea is an infusion of fruit pieces, herbs, spices, and other botanicals - fresh or dried. Fruit Tea can be served hot or cold (it makes for a delicious iced tea) and is a great alternative to more traditional caffeinefree teas, such as Herbal Tea or Rooibos.
